Who thinks the rich are greedy and should be taxed more?
I always see people here complaining about how much money the rich make and how they ae greedy and should be taxed more and more. people even seem hateful towards the rich, but why? they are productive members of society who contribute in the form of taxes. shouldn't we turn our attention to the poor/lazy. they take but do not contribute to our society, yet they always seem to cry and complain the gov isn't doing enough for them i see liberals complaining already, why are you attacking the poor? in this modern society anyone with a little ambition and hard work can be in the middle class. if you are poor you choose to be poor. by the way, i am not rich, i was raised by poor immigrant parents, who like me also found there way to the middle class through hard work

It's funny to see people here take the position that the rich are evil and greedy and should be taxed more. Even the poor in America are among the wealthiest people on the planet. As seen through the eyes of the desperately poor in Africa, for example, a computer and the money to pay for internet access represents a level of wealth that they can't imagine. If all the socialists on YA truly had the courage of their convictions, they'd do without these "luxuries" and send the money to people who are starving. But somehow, their moral arguments stop at the border, and their vision of socialism conveniently results in them being on the receiving end only.

Communists, that's who. Dirty, stinking communists. They learned a lot by watching Satan, who's great trick was to make people believe that he doesn't exist. We thought we won the cold war! Lenin and Stalin, Marx and Engles must be laughing now.

Look this is a play right out of the socialist Manifesto. Tax the so called rich and give it to the less fortunate.Until on day there are no longer rich people and company's and also no jobs and no economy.Money is what keeps the engine of this nation going and it is a capitalist nation to spite what the liberals say.If one of my kids happens to work hard and make a good life for him/her self and make money by working hard, why should they be forced to give it to the government were they decide what to do with it....Let them pay there taxes but don't make pay so much that it won't be worth working any more...

It should be that you have to give a certain percentage to what you earn for eveyone. I envy the rich. They have what I don't so I hate them. Fuc k it got to keep living. On the other side the poor usualy stuck in their situation no matter what they do. And sometimes they do need but in some cases with the lazy people take advantage of the government help.

These same people that complain about the rich don't mind getting their paychecks from these same people. The only ones I know that complain about the rich are the dimwits in Washington (which by the way are rich themselves-funny how they forget that)and those that want more handouts.I went to college and work for my money and it should be only MINE.I'll give if I want too, don't tell me that I have to as you will come up against one mad woman. If the rich have more money then me, will good for them,I have no problem with that.I say thank God,since I love getting paid for my work. When was the last time anyone worked for a poor man and got paid.

I agree to an extent. I was raised by a single mother who unfortunately couldn't raise 2 kids alone. I was withdrawn from school in 9th grade to work full time and help support the family. My education was held far back because of this and just recently (14 years later) I am back in school and pursuing a nursing career. During those 14 years, I married, had children and worked really good factory jobs...my husband and I brought home after taxes $2000 a week. We had a house, nice cars, everything until our company laid everyone off when Bush was president. They moved overseas and we had to file bankruptcy. Lost our house, our cars and almost our children because we had nowhere to live. Since then, we have worked our way back up, very slowly, but were working at it. So I agree that anyone can work they way out of being in a poor class if they really want to. I also agree that the rich can be very greedy. As I remember quite well what it was like to have $2000 a week vs now having $500 a week. It is human nature to want things if you can afford it, but we rarely see that perhaps one day we won't be able to afford it anymore, and go bankrupt rather than spending wisely like we should be doing. Also, the way I look at it is, at one time, the rich were middle class people, even if it means going back several generations, and they have only continued to be rich because the middle class pay them. So it's only fair to tax them as we are taxed otherwise the middle class won't be able to afford to keep the rich, rich! It's a cycle and some people just don't see it.....sad.. Also, I agree with the poor statement about how they always seem to complain about how the government doesn't do enough for them. Actually, we are the ones who pay the taxes to help you sit on your butt and get foodstamps. I had an ex-roomate who is 29 with 2 kids and worked a total of 2 years in her life. She took advantage of everything my tax dollars paid for her to do nothing but gripe that it's still not good enough while I work my butt off to pay her rent, her water bill, and take care of me and my 2 children. It was ridiculous! Ughh, I can't stand people like that who are too good sitting up on their high horse thinking the world owes them. I'm sorry, but I don't owe anyone s**t! Lol, just had to vent ;)

I'm for taxing the rich more. Especially those sick people that work 60 hrs per week. Anyone working 60 hrs or more per week should be taxed at 1 1/2 the rate of people only working 40 hrs per week. So if a 40 hr/wk man is paying 15% a 60 hr/wk man should pay 37 1/2%. And a guy working 20 hrs/wk would only pay 7 1/2 %. So lets use $20/hr just for figuring purposes. The guy working 20 hrs would make $400 and pay $30 in taxes leaving a take home of $370. Which would mean an actual pay of $18.5/hr At 40 hrs the pay would be $800 and taxes would be $120 and take home 680 for an actual of $17/hr The greedy 60 hr/wk guy would make 1200 at reg rate and 200 in overtime for a total of 1400 and would pay 525 in taxes for a take home of 875 or 14.58 per hour. This would make those greedy sob's think twice about working overtime and force companies to hire more people. That way we'd have three guys making 680 per week each and paying a total of 360 per week in taxes instead of two making 1400 and paying a total of 1050 in taxes. Wait a minute this isn't working out right. That means if we raise the taxes on the rich we'll have more people making less money paying less in taxes and both the people and the government will go broke. I don't think that is right. Raising taxes on the rich should bring in more money not less. Won't it bring in more money to the government?
