My dad is a Education minister for the Local council in England-(NW-U.K) and he has got offered a job as the...: Insular District Education Ruling Administrator of Riyadh. The job starts in Late September and the salary is ranging from 38,999 to 55,000 Monthly In Saudi Arabian money... But is that a good salary or a bad salary? My family is not taking this job request too seriously but my father is considering it because it seems Good. They even said that there are similar job requests like that in UAE and Qatar? How is Saudi Arabia really like, I am a muslim (Sunni) and It will be kinda comfortable for me but I heard its really Islamic and that there are no cinemas and all that... So what am i supposed to do? Just stay at my home? So basically there is not much recreational fun in Saudi Arabia for people to have a good time and enjoy.... So...I wake up...Go to school...Come home and do what then? And on weekends what do I do when there isn't school? Saudi Arabia can be a bit boring, but it's a nice place to live. You can wear regular western clothes. My husband is Saudi, and he rarely wears a thobe. I'm sure you'll make friends here from school. You can always go to Bahrain on the weekend if you want to watch a movie. There are NO human rights whatsoever. The locals are ALWAYS right, and the expatriates are ALWAYS wrong cos they're the weakest link. Why would you live in a place where women and men hugely repressed! What are you going to do there? Can't go to the beach and wear your swimmers, can't go to the cinema cos there isn't any, can't walk outside during nights and not being harassed by the guys as most them are perverts and molesters due to the prolonged boredom and sexual repression. Women almost don't exist in public, all in black covered from head to toe! The guys there are out of control, druggies and aggressive. Their favourite hobby is gathering late at night and performing crazy car shows that endanger other innocent people's lives. Everything is censored there, even the simplest things, can't buy a magazine without 75% of it being painted/covered with a black ink! You really need to be social and force yourself to get to know people real quick to make friends, then you will have a never ending group to do things with. You can wear western clothing here in this country as a male. tops and jeans are popular the world over.. You will find many of our stores/shops in the malls sell western brand clothing. And all our teens are up current on the latest fashion trends of the west.. WE dont have cinemas, but we do have DVDs and everyone downloads the latest movies anyways.. You can get together and watch TV at someones home, football(soccer) is popular social event for men. going sand dunning. (3 and 4 wheelers up the sand dunes). There are things to do, you just need to get out there and find them. AND dont limit friendships to just your countrymen, make friends with all nationalities, that way you will get a feel of many cultures.. it will be an adventure..
