Why is recognizing other religions so difficult for the Saudi Shoura Council?
The Headline: Saudi Shoura Council rejects call for international pact to respect all religions The Link: http://gulfnews.com/news/gulf/saudi_arabia/10198648.html The Money Quote: Talal Bakri, one of the staunch critics of the move, said “if we approve the resolution it will be make it obligatory to recognise some religions and will facilitate establishing places of worship for them in Muslim countries.” The Horror: The Shoura Council made the right decision to avoid the ban, but for the wrong reason. In their worldview, they would have to "recognize" other religions before they would ban the insult to other religions. What a conundrum for them. This may lead to another form of worship and they can't have that.
